Leah's New Look

As hard as I've tried to get Leah to stop twirling her hair, it's been a hard habit for her to break, especially with Marc gone from us.  She had gotten to the point where her finger was getting stuck and losing circulation, and the back was constantly in knots that would come out in clumps when we tried to get them out.  You can see from the shot that shows the back of her head where she was starting to get a little bald spot (I didn't want it to get any bigger).

So, this morning we cut her hair.  I left it a bit longer in the front, but since most of the twirling was happening in the back, I cut that much shorter. Oh, by the way, I've started cutting Ian's hair now also.  Coming up I'm sure you'll see more pics of Leah's new style.

I put the clip in & gave her a snack when she was done so she had something to treat herself to.  I think it is bothering me more than her that we had to cut it so short.  She seems pretty happy with the whole thing.

Here is the front with the clip in:

I wound up with her bangs a little shorter than I normally would have done...she moved her head while I was trimming that area & I didn't want it to be too uneven:

Here is the back, complete with little bald spot, but you can also see some of the longer hair from the front:

Ian in THE Hat

I took the kids out of school early this past Thursday so they could go to a special Story Time at the library.  You see, they were celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday, so they had fun books they were reading, cupcakes, and the craft was making a "Cat in the Hat" Hat.  Leah's was a little bit too big for her (it pretty much almost fell down over her eyes).

So here is Ian showing off his hat:

Here are the kids enjoying the cupcakes with some of their friends from base:

Now those of you who know me well, can figure that I didn't take these pictures (It takes planning, notes, and major focus for me to remember to grab the camera for everyday stuff like this).  One of the other moms was kind enough to share the pictures she took with me & I thought I'd share them with all of you.

Swim Time!

So, all of you know Ian & Leah started Swim Lessons last week.  Here are a few shots of them in action at class.

Well, ok the first one is Leah after she lost one of her ear plugs, so we took her goggles off & told her to keep her head out of the water.  The earplug was recovered from the bottom of the pool to be used at the next class.

Ian did really well putting his face in the water & going through the hoops (behind him).

Here they are learning to kick using the floating bar, but I'm not sure Ian isn't standing...

Don't know if I could ever get this shot again... both kids actually LOOKING and LISTENING to their teacher!

The kids are having so much fun swimming & learning how to swim.  The teacher uses some really great methods to keep the kids interested and helps them to enjoy their time in the water.

A Window into Marc's World

I have worked hard to get plugged into the FRG (family readiness group) with the base that Marc is with right now.  I am really glad I did this because they recently started to send some pictures, so I now have a better idea of the conditions that he is experiencing & the wonderful people that he is working with.  I also got Marc's permission to put the following picture here for all of you to see him in his "office".  The flags behind him were done by the kids at one of their Library story time craft times.  I thought they seemed appropriate to send & they must have been since Marc put them up.
So far, this is the only one I've seen with him in it, so I was glad he let me share it.  I hope all of you enjoy it as much as I did.
