Snowzilla/Smowmageddon/Snowpocalypse 2016...the aftermath

Dear Diary,

It is the day after the largest blizzard in the history of all that is.  The snowplows haven't made it here yet, cannibalism is looking like my only chance for survival.  Heaven knows I'll need the calories to shovel the driveway all the way to the road.

All kidding aside, it was quite the snowfall.  It is hard to tell from the photos, but the one above is my car completely buried.  The little thingy sticking out is my passenger side mirror.

Above is the damage from the back deck.  The nearest thing is a chair, almost completely buried.  Below is my car, finally all shoveled out after about 6 hours of work.

First, Ian and I shoveled the driveway, I figure it is about 60 feet long.  We shoveled about an 8 foot path at a depth of 2-2.5 feet in the first 4 hours.  We moved more than 1000 cubic feet of snow - not including the turn-around space, the walkways, and the areas around the cars.  Leah and Nancy cleared the cars (more Nancy than Leah) while Ian and I cleared the driveway.  It was a naproxen kind of night...

Above is the driveway all the way to the unplowed road.  They actually came through some time this morning, but only cleared a one-lane path, leaving me a good 8 feet to shovel to actually have a clear path to the road.

Ian and I made a couple of very large snow piles (four, to be exact) which made perfect snow-cave material.  Above is Leah, I had her move from the back of the snow cave to the front so that I could actually see her.

And then a shot of both kids sitting on the shelf (suitable for sleeping, not that it will be used for that).

And then a selfie with all of us in the shot.

Have a great day everybody - stay warm and dry!

Marc
