Pinewood Derby

Ian had his Pinewood Derby today. Unfortunately I couldn't get out of work, so Catherine had to take both kids.

Ian didn't win the race, but he wasn't last either.

However, his car did win "Judge's Favorite". He did a great job on shaping and painting it, and he really wanted that angry bird to drive his car/Star Wars speeder. I think he had fun and overall enjoyed the Derby.

Leah's Birthday Party

Leah's birthday party finally came, to Leah's great delight. Catherine arranged to have the party at a local gymnastics center which all of the kids (okay, even me) thoroughly enjoyed. I wanted to get a sprinting start to swan dive into the foam pit, but I restrained myself. Barely.

The kids, however, did not!

They had about an hour to run around. There was a rope to swing on, bars to hang from, a hamster wheel to get rolled in, a trampoline to jump up and down on, and of course the foam pit. The foam pit was far and away the favorite play place for all the kids.

Afterwards there were cupcakes and ice cream. Leah had a great time, and so did Ian. It's hard to believe my little girl is seven years old - happy birthday Leah!

Kids day out at the park

Ian and Leah both wanted to ride their bikes to the park today, despite the heavy frost still covering the ground. I tried to talk them out of it, but they really wanted to do that instead of riding their bikes.

So we bundled up and away we went.

Nothing terribly exciting, though it was nice to get in a bit of sun once we got to the park.

We've enjoyed the playoff games (except last night's Green Bay game BOOOOOOO!!!!), but other than that things have been very relaxed here. Have a wonderful day everybody,
