Texas wildflowers

Christina came to visit yesterday.  I had some group-work to do for school (I have more later today - boo!!!), but after I got home I suggested we go drive around to admire the wildflowers, which I had heard were really blooming to the south of San Antonio.

Both photos were taken well off the main roads, down some dirt/stone country roads.  The one above was a bit prior to sunset, while the one below was taken well before dinner.

We saw a bunch of great places for bluebonnets on our way home from church today, they may be worth investigating more when I have some time.

Have a great day everyone.  Cheers,

Marc

kiddo one and kiddo two

Nothing new to report - just some new photos of Ian and Leah.

First Leah in her Girl Scout/Brownie vest:

And then Ian mean-mugging the camera in his Jedi outfit.  I've made this one a bit grungy to fit the expression.

Have a great day!

More Star Wars

I've done it before, but I wanted to try a composite photo with one of the kids "flying".  The only way I could figure out why on short notice was to stage a Star Wars fight (part 2 - the first one was here).

I had one each of Ian and Leah flying, but the ones with Ian didn't turn out too well, so I let him be the Jedi for both of these photos.

No children were harmed in the making of these photos...

Enjoy!

While Catherine is house hunting

Nancy came to watch the kids during their spring break, and Catherine went to go house-hunt.

She flew out of Austin, so I used the excuse to go check out a local state park, and eventually a local brewery (complete with wood-fired pizza oven).

We went to McKinley Falls State Park, which was just a couple of miles from the airport.  A river runs through the park, with some interesting rock features on either side, plus a couple of smaller waterfalls.

The kids both had a great time walking around and exploring the place.  Both kids were pretty excited to see new things, and then get Nancy to go check them out, too.

It was a pretty short trip, I think we only stayed about an hour, but definitely worth the effort.

After that, we went to the Jester King brewery, located out in the sticks.  There is a restaurant next door to it, with a wood-fired pizza oven.  If you go, you can have your choice of pizza, pizza, or pizza.  Though I must say, the pizza was pretty darn good.

And for no particular reason, here is a picture of the Valentine's Day gift I got for Catherine - a shark fin tea ball.  Don't worry, no real sharks were harmed in the making of this tea ball.

Who says I'm not a romantic?!?

Have a great day!  Cheers,

Marc

New Camera

Catherine surprised me with a new camera, which arrived just yesterday.  Unfortunately for me, it arrived shortly before I was going to get into bed.

After a long day in school today, I finally got to get home and start to put everything together and get it registered.  And, of course, take some photos!

I love (LOVE) this new camera.  For my couple of test shots, it nailed the focus, and has tons of detail.  I can't wait to put this thing to the test, only I have to get through school first.

Stay warm everyone, I know we are looking forward to warmer weather.  Cheers,

Marc
