Leah and her purple hair

Leah wanted her hair dyed with some purple streaks.  Catherine tried a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't work.  So she went with something a bit stronger this time around.

I finally had a opportunity to get her in front of the camera - and as before, no photo shoot is complete without some hearts.

Leah wanted Elly to get  a photo, too.  No purple hair dye for Elly.

Have a great day!

Science Fair

Science fair season.  The very phrase makes many parents' spines tingle - some in dread, some in anticipation.  Fortunately, Catherine spared me from the drama (though we know parents who were hyper-pushy, and I'm sure those projects will be next year's Nobel prize - just not in this household).

Ian's science fair project was to look at how fast snow melted in various settings.  Leah's project was making something sweet from a bittersweet start (chocolate - go with what you know!).  Leah's poster is at another child's home, getting photos attached, so no photos here.

Cheers,

Marc

Just playing around

I broke out my flash and my Einstein today to try to learn how to shoot a brighter type of photo than I normally shoot.

My flash-lit photos tend towards the moody side, or at least I think so, with darker shadows and such.

Not today!  I used a flash to light the background.  As I type this it doesn't look pure white like it did in Lightroom (bummer).  I used my Einstein to light the kids as my key light.

And I used my large reflector, gold side this time around, to knock down the shadows under the chin and on the neck.  Thanks Angie for the reflectors - I use them pretty much any time I photograph nowadays.

Enjoy the photos of the kids!

Cheers,

Marc
