Fun at the local playground

These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago at the local playground.

The kids enjoyed hanging upside down.

But what they really liked was me spinning them on the merry-go-round.

By now you've probably heard that Leah is having a surgery next week - what we thought was appendicitis turned out to be a pancreatic cyst.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  I can't wait to get my little girl back to "normal"!

Cheers,

Marc

Revolutionary War weekend at Mt. Vernon

It was a wet weekend, but that didn't stop us from having fun.  I had a Boy Scout training event on Saturday, which was cold and damp.  Luckily, there were a bunch of good folks there to make the event fun.

Sunday, after we went to church and had lunch at home, we braved the rain and made our way to Mount Vernon for the Revolutionary War weekend.  We missed the rain, though it was still cool.  I think the rain helped keep the crowds down a bit.

Ian and Leah played "grace", where you use a couple of sticks to toss a ring, where the other other person then tries to catch it.

We then strolled amongst the encampment, and then played a spy game, which the facility puts on.

Finally, it was time for the "tactical demonstration".  No battles were fought here, but that didn't stop the organizers from hosting a bunch of folks in period costume.

No surprise, the Americans won the day.  General Marquis de Lafayette helped lead the soldiers off the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Catherine hopped on a tour, which she said was pretty good.  Afterwards, we found a restaurant which served pretty good German food, right next door to a frozen yogurt place.  Everyone was happy!  All in all, not a bad day.

Cheers,

Marc
