Quarantine

We are surviving the social distancing thing just fine so far. The kids, being teenagers, really only make appearances for meals, so nothing terribly new there.

I though I'd take a break from reading and such to grab a couple of photos of the kids. Leah wanted a photo with Luna. Luna ended up a bit out of focus - but what are you going to do?

I actually caught Ian in a moment of true smiling!

Spring Time

Our cherry trees really exploded this past weekend.

Since all has been doom and gloom - and quite challenging at work - here's hoping a little peace and quiet at sunrise comes your way.

Marc's Promotion to Lt. Col

Well, it's been forever since I've posted to the blog since Marc has been taking most of our pictures lately & been good about posting them.  Since this post is about him it's my turn.  Earlier this month we were fortunate to be able to have a ceremony at the base chapel for Marc's promotion to Lieutenant Colonel.  Many of his colleagues, boy scout troop parents, and his parents were able to join us in attending the ceremony.  It was a formal ceremony followed by a lunch reception.

 

We all managed to fit into one pew somehow!  The kids & I were on the ends since we had to put Marc's new rank onto his uniform.

At the end, Marc renewed his commitment to the Army.  He has a big job right now working in Military Medicine.  Please keep him in your prayers.

Getting Ready

Nothing terribly new here, just getting ready for my promotion ceremony later this week.

It has been a while, so I figured I'd take some photos of the kids...voila!

My how the time flies

I cannot believe it was Thanksgiving since my last post! I was doing so well...

Anyways, we've done a bunch since then, including a trip to Florida to see Catherine's side of the family in Miami, and Dad and Pam in The Villages. We took the auto train, which was super late coming home (about 9 hours late), but probably still worth it.

I've been super busy at work, but what is new there? I have some exciting news for the next couple of years:  a promotion (technically already promoted, but I won't wear the rank until the ceremony next month), and selection for a command position (a small health clinic out west).

Ian and I wrapped up some finishing touches on his Eagle project. Now we must wait for approval from district (fingers crossed!). We have also been training for Philmont this summer - 10 days on the trail in northern New Mexico.

After all that, I decided to break out the camera and snap some photos of the kids. I like dark and moody portraits. Leah really has the "Mona Lisa smile" thing figured out. Ian just laughs when I suggest a small smile like Mona Lisa. Love those kids!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We hope your day was filled with family, food, joy, and laughter.

We spent the afternoon with our neighbors and a couple of their friends, which was a nice day to spend the day - traveling no further than our feet could take us in a matter of minutes.

Yesterday I brewed a batch of beer, put up the Christmas tree, and watched Auburn beat Alabama - not a bad way to spend our 23rd anniversary. Hard to believe!

Later yesterday evening, I thought I'd snap a couple of photos of the kids in front of the tree.

Late November update

Happy late November everyone. Nothing terribly new here. Last weekend Ian and I went camping with his Boy Scout Troop - we put in 10 miles on a trail and then spent a chilly night in the great outdoors. We weren't expecting snow, but we had a very light dusting when we woke up.

We went to the late service at church today because Leah was singing with the kids's choir. Since we had some extra time, I grabbed photos before we left.

Other than that, Ian created some excitement by mixing up convention oven with microwave oven instructions. Leah saw the smoke, I killed the electricity, and the only thing that is a bit worse for the wear is the microwave -we'll need a new one of those.

Otherwise, we are prepping for a quiet Thanksgiving this week - and we have so much to be thankful for this year. We are well, and truly, blessed. Cheers!
