Happy Memorial Day!

We hope everyone had a blessed Memorial Day weekend - we got to enjoy some sunshine and summer-like weather, which was glorious.

I started out Saturday morning in Washington DC at the Lincoln Memorial. I really love that place in the early morning, you can practically have it to yourself.

Later, we packed up the car and drove to Harpers Ferry where Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia meet at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers.

We had a nice walk through the town, and then the kids and I hiked up a couple of miles to the top of Maryland Heights, but the cliffs were closed due to some nesting peregrine falcons. It was a nice hike, both kids enjoyed it.

Sunday was church and then just cleaning up around the house.

Today was a big laundry, lawn mowing, and beer bottling day (meaning I also had to clean my fermenter and stuff).

Neither kid (nor Catherine for that matter) were terribly thrilled to sit in front of the camera, but I was glad to snap some photos - keeping my weekly streak alive!

Cheers,

Marc

Greetings from sunny Maryland!

We finally had some great weather this weekend - gorgeous if truth be told. Warm and breezy. I hung out on the porch a good chunk yesterday and today and loved it.

I brewed a batch of beer yesterday morning, and still had plenty of time to mow the yard (and collect the clippings - big day on the lawn tractor).

Meanwhile, Leah went to a friend's home for a sleepover. I'd like to say the house was quiet without her, but she hangs out in her room more often than not.

Today was a catch up day for laundry and other house cleaning chores. On a good note, I finally got Catherine in front of the camera for the first time in a long time.

Cheers,

Marc

Happy Mother's Day!

Two thumbs up for a happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Once again, nothing terribly new here.

We're enduring another soggy weekend - but we had a nice lunch out yesterday at a place Catherine chose, a nice morning at church, and now just relaxing with each other today. Have a blessed and happy Mother's Day!

A rainy day photo session

It was another busy weekend for the Skinners!

Friday night Catherine, Ian, and I went to see the new Avengers: End Game movie. It was a pretty good movie, and I am glad I saw it before any spoilers go to me.

Leah went camping with the Girl Scouts, so she didn't make it to the movie - and says she doesn't want to see it. Meh.

Ian and I had some Wilderness First Aid training all day Saturday and today. We got home in time for dinner, and seeing the weather forecast, I stayed up until it was dark mowing the lawn.

Which was a good move, because it rained all day today - and it rained HARD for a good bit of the time. We have an area of the yard in the far back corner that is just staying flooded. I saw some ducks swimming in there a couple of weeks ago...time for someone to turn off the water (I swear it rains more here than it did in the Pacific Northwest!!!!!!).

Cheers,

Marc
